Our Aim
We believe that, “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.”- Malcolm X
With this, we believe every child deserves a future and deserves to be in education. We want young people to be empowered through learning. Currently Schools exclusions disproportionately affect the Black British community. Many members of the Black British community live in the most deprived areas of London, there is no legal aid for Education Law thus paying for a solicitor is unattainable.
With this in mind we have made sure that our Education advocacy service is free, this is to ensure that those who are the most vulnerable in society can still access justice.
We are providing advocates that can represent your child at fixed and Permanent schools exclusions hearings for free.
Parents may feel apprehensive when asked to attend appeals and meetings alone. Our advocates will support you at these and other school-based meetings such as reintegration.
When possible our advocates will meet with both you and your child in person ahead of such meetings in order to be fully prepared.
When you contact us we will ask you to fill out a google form to provide us with some background information. This will allow our legal advisors to determine if they have capacity. If they do have availability they will be able to prepare and conduct the appeals on your behalf before the Head Teacher or the schools Governing Board or before the Independent Review Panel (IRP)
Our Advocates are committed to understanding the African and Afro- Caribbean communities experience.
Our Advocates specialise in
- Education law
Our Advocates are limited to working on this project on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays.
