Interview with the chairwoman of Kongra Star women’s movement in Heseke about self-defence.
Republished from Women Defend Rojava
Recently we’ve seen increasing violence against women and rising cases of femicide. At the same time, we also observe the growing resistance to this patriarchal violence. For this gender-based violence, we see self-defence as the answer to this. For this reason we’ve made different interviews with women from North and East Syria.
In our fourth interview Rima Isa Mehmoud, the chairwoman of Kongra Star in Heseke, explains to us from the perspective of the women’s movement in Rojava, Kongra Star, the importance of organisation and education as essential aspects of self-defence.
